The project is a modern interpretation of island style homes. Located on a lava flow, it both reflects and contrasts the surrounding landscape. Black lava rock is the primary building material and was used in several different ways in the garden. The surrounding landscape, including Kiawe trees and fountain grass, was brought into the site to frame the garden.
